On the afternoon of January 19, leaders of Phu Quoc International Airport announced that on January 17, 2026, the airport handled 47 international flights, surpassing the previous record of 46 flights recorded on January 3. This represents the highest daily number of international flights in the airport’s operational history.

According to statistics, from January 1 to January 18, 2026, Phu Quoc International Airport served a total of 734 international flights, an increase of more than 40% compared to the same period in 2025 (521 flights). This figure reflects a steady and sustainable growth trend in international travel demand to Phu Quoc at the beginning of this year.

International flights to Phu Quoc in January 2026 were operated from key markets such as South Korea, China, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and other Central Asian countries. This strong growth is not only driven by traditional routes but is also evident in the stable frequency and volume of flights maintained throughout the period.

From the beginning of 2026, Sun Group officially took over the operation of Phu Quoc Airport. The airport is also being upgraded and expanded by Sun Group to increase its capacity to 20 million passengers per year ahead of APEC 2027.
